1. I chose to analyze a picture that was attached to a New York Times article. I did not actually read the article and therefore will try to decipher what the meaning of the image is on my own. I believe that the image is trying to convey the message that in today’s economy having a college degree does not guarantee that you will have an easy time finding a suitable job. Graduating college is definitely a big accomplishment that calls for celebration. However, when the parties are over and everyone has gone home, reality sets in for many of these college graduates. With today’s economy, growing unemployment rate, and the rising cost of universities, they may be left with enormous debt, and no suitable job in sight. 
2. The message that this image conveys may be true, but the question that begs asking is, now what!? It’s very nice to say that there is a problem, but how do we fix it? It’s not enough to scare college students by warning them about what may be ahead of them, we have to offer solutions to them as well. Hence I found seven great  ideas to increase a college graduates chances of finding a suitable job in an article called “How New College Grads Can Land a Shockingly Good Job” by Kristie Hedges for Forbes.com. In her essay Hedges gives much needed guidance and encouragement to struggling new graduates. Although skeptics may object and say that the job market today is truly hopeless, i still maintainin agreement with Hedges  that with the right tools and strategies a person can succeed.
   

    

3. I agree with the message the photographer is trying to convey with this image, which is that the job market is definitely not going be smooth for anyone these days, regardless of what degree they’ve completed. However, college students should not be led to believe that there is no hope of them finding the job they’ve always dreamed of in today’s market. Although a college graduate still has many mountains to climb after graduation, graduating college is a huge accomplishment that is definitely cause for celebration. Although the process may not be easy, the perfect job is out there for them, just waiting to be found.
